Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about Paco
The questions you ask us most about Paco, the companion robot. If you can't find your answer, write to hola@oyepaco.com.
What is a companion robot?
A companion robot is a device with artificial intelligence meant to keep you company: it converses by voice, remembers the person and keeps them company day to day. Paco also reminds you of appointments and medication, and speaks the languages of Spain. If you're deciding, we have a whole page on what a companion robot is and how to choose one.
Is Paco good for older adults?
Yes. Paco is meant for the whole family and is especially useful as companionship for older adults or people who live alone: it converses naturally, remembers the person and gives voice reminders for medication and appointments, without depending on anyone checking a phone. On loneliness and everything that helps — with devices and without them — we've written a page for families.
What languages does Paco speak?
Paco speaks Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician, as well as English, French, Italian, Portuguese and many others. It switches languages with you without you having to set anything up.
Does Paco record my conversations?
No. Paco doesn't record your conversations: the audio travels in real time to Google (Gemini) to understand you and we don't store it. From what you talk about it only keeps what adds new information, and you can delete it whenever you like from the app.
Does Paco need an internet connection?
Paco needs the internet to converse — its voice brain runs in the cloud — and for services like email or the calendar. Its memory, though, lives with it; online there's only a copy so you can see it from the app.
Does Paco recognise each person in the home?
Yes. Each person has their own memory. If someone it doesn't know speaks, Paco asks their name and adds them. When there are several people at home, it starts each conversation knowing who it's talking to, so it doesn't mix one person's memories with another's.
How much does Paco cost?
Paco is in its launch phase and the management app is free. If in future some feature becomes paid, it will be announced clearly and in advance, and nothing is charged without your confirmation.
Is Paco a Spanish product?
Yes. Paco is a product designed in Spain and multilingual from birth: it speaks the languages of Spain and of many other countries.
